At first glance, Suman Pundir appears to be one of them, her pale, skinny contorted frame crumpled into a wheelchair. But give her a sheet of paper and a pencil and she is a completely transformed person. As her face lights up, her hands more with the flourish of a seasoned artist, making a mockery of her Muscular Dystrophy (MD). Diagnosed with this crippling genetic disorder, the 21-year old from Bilaspur town in Himachal Pradesh earns much satisfaction from her works of art comprising mainly greeting cards. She also takes pride from the fact that she has been able to support her family financially through the sale of such greeting cards, rather than being dependent on them. Significantly, the moving spirit behind Pundir's transition is her three siblings, who also suffer from MD.
