The battle against our common enemy should be carried on relentlessly. It is the cruel crippling disease, 'Muscular Dystrophy' (M.D). It munches the
muscles of the people unknowingly with its ravages. It reduces people, the patients and parents, including the physicians to a helpless state. The victims losing power over their own limbs lead lives of dependency relying on other's help for their physical needs. Sitting immobile, or with impaired walking, they look on and on for a specific or a breakthrough. And in the course of the long drawn battle, we lose several of our heroes in the trail behind. It is a battle more ghastly than Leningrad or Kargil.

Tears should swell, when we see how the cute, intelligent, and most endearing children are forcibly taken away from the clutching hands of their loving parents. Yet the battle must be there. And it should be continued relentlessly. It is to be considered as our common cruel enemy.

We should all be united in our efforts too meet the challenges of the disease with its invincible, slow, silent and progressive degenerative effects. Our effort should be single point, and should transcend geographical, communal linguistic, religious, ethnic, binding walls.

We get quite a number of enquires from all over the country asking us of we have any specific

treatment to help their children. We naturally reply to them that ours is a counseling and rehabilitation agency. We send several such replies asking them to continue their future contacts with us. We send our free Enrolment Form and ask them to return it duly filled, for future correspondence. We send a copy of our newsletter 'Bridge' which serves a window to our areas of service, though not spectacular but significant in human values. And strangely, and painfully too, we find the purpose of our bridging through 'Bridge' is not often well rewarded. It is a sort of 'Will-it-help-ME' syndrome by the parents. This should be transformed into a broad aspect; will-it-help-US', spectrum, a generous vision.

Having failed in my varied efforts to find sponsors to bear the financial expenditure of bringing our "Bridge" during these days of increased cost of printing and even mailing, I felt I was in "slough of despondency" as the on in Pilgrims progress."

I feared the break in continuity of Bridge, our life line, which we have been pushing on unbroken for 15 long years. At such time of ebbing spirits, I got the welcome message form the Goa Chapter of IMDA expressing their desire, a noble one at that, to sponsor the Bridge 200. And other generous donors too rallied round, to my appeal. I thank them for the lofty gesture of help to bring our Bridge. They have thus lit a lamp in the dark recess of my heart. It was a real 'Diwali' for me, and for IMDA. In what other manner can I gratefully acknowledge the timely help offered by the Members of Goa Chapter, and other donors. India remains with its rich heritage a great noble nation. In conclusion, let me exhort, let us all be united in our fight against the onslaughts of the disease MD.

LET ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE MD FAMILY UNITE AND CARRY ON THE BANNER TILL THE GOAL IS ACHIEVED.
